Steel wire for mechanical springs
EN10270-1-SMSpring steel wire produced from non-alloy carbon steel, intended for applications requiring good strength, ductility and reliable fatigue resistance. EN 10270-1-SM is widely used for tension, compression and torsion springs that benefit from enhanced cold-coiling behaviour and easier forming compared with the higher-strength SH grade. Its nearest AISI counterparts generally lie in the 1050–1070 range, depending on the precise carbon content.
Stainless steels for springs – Wire
ISO6931-1ISO 6931-1 4310-301 is a stainless austenitic spring steel known for its good mechanical properties and excellent corrosion resistance. It is commonly used in springs, clips, and other high-performance applications where both strength and corrosion resistance are required. The material contains chromium and nickel as main alloying elements, and may include a small amount of molybdenum for additional corrosion protection. It offers good formability and strength and is typically employed in environments with moisture or chemicals.
