EN 10270-1-SM is widely used for tension, compression and torsion springs that benefit from enhanced cold-coiling behaviour and easier forming compared with the higher-strength SH grade. Its nearest AISI counterparts generally lie in the 1050–1070 range, depending on the precise carbon content.
